resignation

Relatively low salaries and high workload for a public sector entity are some of the factors that dissuade many citizens from joining the Public Institute for Social Security (PIFSS). This was revealed by none other than the country’s Finance Minister Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf.

Pointing out that the Institute had published over 46 advertisements in local media since 2013, the minister rued the fact that of the 2,029 people who were hired during this period only 1,055 continue to work at PIFSS. Over 48 percent of those who joined have since left the institute, lamented the minister.

The minister was responding to a parliamentary query on this topic. He added that PIFSS was unable to meet the salaries provided by other government institutions and as a result was not able to recruit competent staff. Shortage of staff led to increased workload on remaining workers and this resulted in many of them resigning and continuing the cycle.
