The Public Anti-Corruption Commission “Nazaha” stated that after thorough investigation and gathering evidence some senior officials and supervisors in the Ministry of Communications were referred to the Prosecution on the background of facilitating the appropriation of public funds, pursuant to Article No. 10 of Law No. 1 of 1993 regarding the protection of associated public funds.
Al-Jarida daily said this is in continuation of the efforts exerted by the authority to combat corruption and prevent its risks. Although it constitutes a quasi-crime to be referred to the competent investigation authority, the suspects were referred to the Prosecution as per what is stipulated in Article No. 5, Clause 2 of the establishment law of Nazaha, according to which the authority receives reports, complaints and information regarding crimes of corruption and after thoroughly studying them takes the necessary action.
On suspicion of the crime of forgery, pursuant to Article No. 257 of Law No. 16 of 1960 regarding the issuance of the Penal Code, and Article No. 22, item 4-1 of the Law No. 2 of 2016 establishing the Public Authority for Anti-Corruption “Nazaha” affirmed its intention to continue the efforts and procedures regarding examining and collecting inferences and investigations in all serious information that completes the conditions it receives.
