The National Assembly on Wednesday okayed, in the first reading, bills on amending the public tenders law to prioritize small and medium-sized enterprises.

The move also aims to encourage Kuwaiti entrepreneurs to take part in the large tenders.
A total of 43 MPs, who attended the session, voted for the proposals.

Meanwhile, the legislature endorsed in the first reading a draft law on regulating insurance services to be in line with regional and global changes in this sector. Thirty-four MPs voted for the draft, while 13 voted against it.
