The Kuwait Municipality has reportedly agreed to transfer the affiliation of the Nuwaiseeb Free Zone site from the Ministry of Commerce to the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority.

A local Arabic daily has learned a Cabinet decision was issued in this regard on July 4, 2016.

However, an informed source has revealed that the Municipality will submit a detailed technical report on the transfer to the Municipal Council.

Accordingly the Municipal Council decision which was issued in 2012 will be cancelled and coordination will be made with the services ministries to help the Direct Investment Promotion Authority to make a detailed structural plan befitting the free zones.

This is in addition to preparing a detailed study that includes all planning, traffic and environmental studies and presenting it to the Municipal Council for approval in accordance with the established regulations.

The municipality has called for coordinating with the structural plan department concerning the detailed studies on the road and railway network, with the modification of the site’s shape and dimensions if needed in terms of planning and the road network.
