Three days after the Kuwait Municipality issued a decision to close shops, groceries and restaurants in private housing at 12 midnight, the municipality teams continues to monitor, follow up and punish the violators — those who did not adhere to the decision, reports a local Arabic daily.
An official source said the Director-General, Engineer Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, has instructed the departments to implement the decision without exception, explaining that these stores are allowed to begin activity at 6:00 am.
He indicated that the municipality is considered an organized body, and that any decision issued by it is at the request of the competent authorities, especially the Ministry of Interior, and therefore any request will be met with immediate approval, especially with regard to maintaining security and the safety of citizens and residents.
In a related context, a security source told the daily the role of the Ministry of Interior in this regard is to provide attribution if requested, given that closing shops and restaurants is not within the Ministry’s competence.
