The Kuwait Municipality confirmed that 5 truck sites have been handed over to the Ministry of Public Works where heavy duty vehicles can be parked.

A local Arabic daily quoting the source said several decisions were issued by the Municipal Council, regarding the allocation of sites for truck parking, and finally the list of those designated sites are as follows:

— A site for parking trucks in Jahra Governorate (east of Abdali Road) on an area of 500,000 square meters.

— A site in Ahmadi Governorate (east of Sulaibiya Road) on an area of 500,000 square meters.

— Truck parking site in Ahmadi Governorate (Mina Abdullah) on Wafra Road, 500,000 square meters.

— A site in Jahra Governorate (west of Abdali Road), Al-Liah, with an area of 500,000 square meters and

— A site in the Jahra Governorate (Salmi Road), west of poultry farms, with an area of 500,000 square meters.

The source indicated that a Cabinet decision in this regard was issued, at its meeting on May 4, 2009, to assign the Ministry of Public Works to implement the infrastructure for truck parking in the governorates of the State of Kuwait, in coordination with the ministries of Finance and Interior.

The source confirmed that these sites were handed over to the Ministry of Public Works on October 18, 2009 according to the receipt records, and that these five sites meet the required needs, and the matter does not require the issuance of new decisions.
