The Director-General of the Kuwait Municipality, Eng Ahmed Al-Manfouhi has issued a decision to terminate the services of about 132 expatriates working in various sectors of the Municipality.

An informed source told a local Arabic daily that the termination of the services of these employees comes within the Kuwaitization policy adopted by the Civil Service Commission, and in implementation of the policy of replacing foreigners by citizens, and in implementation of the decision of the Minister of Municipality Dr Rana Al-Faris, who has developed a 3-phase time plan for Kuwaitization of jobs in the municipality.

The first phase begins with the termination of contracts of 33% of non-Kuwaitis who were be given a notice period as of this Sept 1, followed by the second phase of ending the services of 33% on February 1, 2023, provided that in the third stage, a notice period will given starting from July 1, 2023, to the remaining number of employees.

On the other hand, Al-Manfouhi issued a decision to rotate the directors of the departments of public hygiene, road works and safety in the governorates’ municipalities.

In other news, the daily has learned Al-Manfouhi has terminated the services of 4 expatriate consultants working in the legal department, 4 legal researchers, and 2 senior law specialists.
