The Municipality on Sunday announced fines of KD 3.4 million (about US$11.22 million) levied against some companies that are not committed to renewing licenses for their activities on state property.

The director of the safety department in the municipal branch of Ahmadi Al-Hamidi al-Mutairi said in a press release that several field tours were carried on a number of companies in the southern region to ensure they had the licenses including the validity of the safety licenses and the license to carry out business on state property.

Al-Mutairi said the tours carried out by the inspectors resulted in the discovery of 16 violations because the company didn’t have a license, the expiry of private security licenses for some of these companies and the exploitation of state property lands.

He stressed that the campaigns will continue to monitor all violations and take all legal action against those violators immediately on the instructions of the senior administrator in the municipality to check all licenses granted, whether safety licenses or others.

Al-Mutairi called on the owners of the companies to comply with all the regulations set up by the municipality and to speed up the necessary procedures to obtain all licenses related to this matter in order to avoid registering a violation alongside a fine.

For its part, the Public Relations Department called on citizens and residents to call the 2439 hotline, or communicate through the municipality’s social media accounts or through WhatsApp 24727732 in case of any complaint related to the municipality.
