Municipal Council member Ahmed Hadyan Al-Enezi renewed his demand to move the Central Prison to one of the islands or border areas, wondering why the delay in taking this step and transferring it despite earlier moves in this regard.

Al-Enezi told Al-Rai that he had previously submitted a proposal to move the prison from its current location as it is close to residential areas, some of the areas included in the urban expansion plan and the fourth structural plan of the state.

He explained during his communication with some senior government officials he had said the current prison site is not suitable, and the majority of them believe that the site must be completely isolated from vital and densely populated areas.

He pointed out that “his proposal was included on the agenda of the previous main session of the Municipal Council, and a request was made to refer it to the executive body to conduct an urgent study, hoping to speed up the decision on the proposal in order to avoid any subsequent conflict with the fourth structural plan of the state.”
