The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Shamiya and Shuwaikh Cooperative Society, Khaled Al-Darbas, announced the signing of a contract for the construction of the multi-storey car parks, basement and ground, on an area of 570 square meters in the two coops. The contract was signed with Al-Ezz International Company for General Trading and Contracting represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Saeed Al-Manea, and in the presence of Al-Duwailah office, the supervisor on the project. The project is expected to be completed within 300 days and will cost a value of KWD 528,500. It will accommodate 174 cars, in addition to the adjacent parking spaces that were developed before, which are within the range of 56, meaning that the total number of rear parking spaces after the implementation of the project is 230, and these parking lots will relieve pressure and congestion on the front parking area.

In addition, Al-Darbas announced the completion of the renovation of the shelves of the central market, as well as the replacement of all refrigerators and freezers with new ones. The main projects of the association, which is constructing the association’s warehouse building in Al-Rai in Shuwaikh Industrial area on a space of approximately 2000 square meters and consisting of basement, ground, and mezzanine, in addition to allocating the facade of the building as investment shops, while numbering eleven shops in various businesses for later investment.

Al-Darbas stressed that this project is a qualitative transfer to the association, as it will generate income from leasing and investment, and will provide the rental value that the association pays annually, reported an Arab daily. The treasurer of the association, Nawaf Al-Yatama, also explained that work is currently underway to complete the issuance of all licenses for the eleven stores, and then put them up for investment in abidance with the regulations by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
