The Ministry of Public Works is racing against time to complete the ‘5 Commercial Centers’ project of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI) which is expected to be handed over next year.

In a statement to Al-Jarida, Eng Ilham Al-Shammari indicated the ‘five commercial centers’ project employing 100 percent national cadres in the engineering and technical disciplines, is fully supervised by the Ministry of Public Works (MPW).

Eng Al-Shammari went on to say the project is designed according to international standards that makes it more sustainable and helps conserve energy inside the buildings during winter season, unlike the summer.

She added, the project will be handed over in phases and the Hawally Center and the Dahr Center are expected to be handed over first and the rest of the project buildings next year, indicating the completion rate has reached 91 percent.

Eng Al-Shammari said, “The façades of the buildings are made of high-quality structural glass, in addition to thermal insulation that saves energy and uses special specifications for energy conservation to reduce the percentage of electricity consumption, and the use of ‘Sky light’ to make lighting in the building from materials environmentally friendly, and to conserve building heat.
