The Ministry of Public Works has disclosed that the “impartial technical committee tasked with evaluating bids from international companies for road maintenance has presented its recommendations to the ministry’s procurement committee regarding two out of the total ten contracts. These contracts pertain to the maintenance of Hawalli and Jahra governorates.”

Reliable sources in MEW informed Al-Qabas daily that, “The Ministry’s Procurement Committee subsequently endorsed the recommendations, considering the reasonable prices proposed by the companies for these two contracts.

The official announcement is anticipated after an upcoming meeting to enable relevant departments to assess the budgetary implications and finalize the remaining contract procedures.”

The sources emphasized that “further scrutiny by the committee awaits the remaining contracts due to the companies’ high initial cost estimates. The Ministry is committed to negotiating and lowering these prices to a satisfactory level in alignment with the anticipated project values.”
