The Minister of Works and the Minister of Electricity and Water, Dr. Amani Bouqmaz has issued a ministerial decision to form a higher advisory technical committee.

The daily quoting sources said the committee will be headed by the ministry with members from several government agencies, to support the efforts of the Ministry of Public Works to reform roads and infrastructure, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to the decision members will be from the Kuwait University, the Ministry of Defense, the Fatwa and Legislation Department, and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.

The decision specifies the objectives of the committee in providing the necessary advice and technical support to the Ministry and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport, with regard to implementing the plans of the Ministry of Public Works and PART regarding road and infrastructure repair.

The committee is responsible for reviewing the contracts being implemented and the evaluations of the companies executing the contracts and the consulting offices, if any, and making observations, reviewing the contractual documents and technical specifications, reviewing the observations, providing technical and advisory support regarding the monitoring and quality control system, the performance and efficiency of the laboratories, the examination and control work on the asphalt plants and the operations sites for the projects belonging to the sectors of the Ministry of Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport.

The committee will work to review the mechanism for offering contracts, maintaining roads, submitting the necessary proposals and recommendations regarding the timetable, and working to reduce the time period for the documentary cycle for issuing contracts.
