MP Abdullah Al-Kandari submitted a question to the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior Anas Al-Saleh, about the Bangladeshi parliamentarian who was arrested on accusations of residency trafficking, and asked about the truth regarding the Bangladeshi arrest in Kuwait, reported Al Rai daily.

He asked about the amount of business he has done in Kuwait, the government tenders he received and the amount of their sums and are they still ongoing? Who are the Kuwaiti partners?

He inquired about how the approval was granted for all these Bangladeshi workers to arrive in Kuwait, and who are the officials that permitted him to do so and the basis of approval, asking to provide him with their names and professions. He also questioned about the Ministry receiving reports about the accused providing five luxury cars to two officials in Kuwait, and if these were investigated, and who are the officials and what are their job positions.

He asked about the financial balances owned by this Bangladeshi representative in Kuwait, and if certain paths of money were tracked inside or outside Kuwait, which might invite a suspicion of money laundering. He also requested for the documents proving that and his statement.

He asked about the number of years the Bangladeshi businessmen worked in Kuwait and when did he return, and how did he enter the last time without being arrested? Although he had previously escaped before reporting him, and the size of the tenders given to the companies the Bangladeshi MP owns and managed.

Mohammad Shahid Islam, widely known as Kazi Papul, was arrested by the Kuwait’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on charges of human trafficking and money laundering. He was arrested from his home in Mushrif residential area in Kuwait City around 9:30pm on Saturday. A local daily reported that the parliamentarian is also believed to have gifted five expensive cars to senior government officials in Kuwait to get government contracts for the company he runs there, the reports said.

An Anti-Corruption Commission investigation against Kazi Papul is also underway on allegations of corruption, including amassing illegal wealth through human trafficking.
