The Cybercrime Department receives more than 4,000 cases annually, most of which are related to insulting dignity, electronic fraud, and hacking and the department has put in place a special mechanism to target fake accounts, arrest them, and bring them to justice.

Head of the Computer Electronic Crimes Department, Lieutenant Colonel Saud Al-Wazzan, told Al-Anba Kuwait is targeted by many gangs and criminal organizations that use technology to hack accounts and carry out their illegal activity.

He went on to say after monitoring and following these activities, the Cybercrime Department tracks down everything that is published on the information network that constitutes a crime according to the Information Technology and Publication Law No. 63 of 2015.

Lieutenant Colonel Al-Wazzan denied that the Anti-Cybercrime Department monitors tweeters and news websites, and that it works in accordance with what the legislator specified, stressing that many hackers have been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution, in accordance with the legal procedures specified by the law.

He explained the Cybercrime Department personnel work 24/7 to serve the country and apply the law to everyone without discrimination. During the recent period, the department was able to close hundreds of pornographic accounts in cooperation and coordination with Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA).
