Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Wednesday it has registered legal cases against nine news accounts for reporting misinformation and spreading false news. The move is part of the ministry’s efforts to fight rumors and baseless news reports amid the current extraordinary circumstances due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), the ministry’s General Department of Security Relations and Media said in a statement.
The ministry’s criminal security sector has seized the nine news accounts for publishing false news, according to the statement, warning that any rumormonger would be held accountable promptly.
