The Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Special Security Forces, Correctional Institutions and Sentences Enforcement Affairs, Major General Abdullah Saffah, has issued a decision that uniforms of prisoners in all prisons in the prison complex must carry the name of the General Administration of Correctional Institutions and should be clearly visible.

Informed sources reported that Major General Saffah stressed that prisoners, who request special clothes for several reasons, are required to purchase them from the Police Association, for which special clothes for prisoners have been specified, provided that the name of the correctional institutions is written on them, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The sources pointed out that the old decision, that prisoners wear special clothes that do not indicate that they are prison clothes, is done away with, and no prisoner will be allowed to wear clothes that are not issued by the General Administration of Correctional Institutions, or that are received through the Police Association.

The sources added that Major General Saffah stressed to the security leaders in the correctional institutions sector the need not to transfer any prisoner to trial or hospitals unless they wear the correctional institution uniform and not to allow any inmate to wear special clothes.
