The Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi stated that the prices of medicines are determined and adjusted by the ministry, and pharmacies cannot interfere with them. The official stated, in response to a question by Representative Osama Al-Shaheen, that pharmacies do not have a monopoly on medicines for their own benefit, as they are considered an investment center for the sale of medicines, which are distributed with the knowledge of the manufacturer and the local agent.

He added that the prices of many medicines have been reduced over the past years, based on the agreement to standardize drug prices in the Gulf region more than once, with the approval of the competent authority, which contributed to reducing their prices for the benefit of the consumer.
