The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the list of medical cases that require admission to hospital wards and specialized centers, for any of the urgent reasons, reports Al Rai daily. The circular also included an explanation of the treatment process, from checking temperatures, and then entering the patient screening area, where the cases are categorized into those suffering from respiratory symptoms, and others that do not suffer from respiratory symptoms.

The circular clarified that coronavirus infection cases suffering from respiratory symptoms require hospital admittance, they are to enter directly into the designated wards following a smear procedure, and after the results of the tests, the patient is transferred to the regular ward or continues to stay in the ward designated for such patients.

On cases that do not suffer from respiratory symptoms, the patients are transferred to “temporary” wards, to conduct smears, and after the results are received, the doctors decide to transfer the case to coronavirus wards, if the result is positive, or to the normal wards if they are negative.

The Ministry highlighted that the modernization of the process comes from its keenness to provide good health services and is partly based on the phased plan to confront the coronavirus disease. This is also to complete the gradual transfer of work in the medical departments to hospitals and primary health care centers, with the need to uphold all preventive measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease.

The Ministry also issued another circular, specifying standards and requirements for the return to work following minor and major surgeries, according to scientific recommendations and international standards, while preparing operating rooms for all surgical specialties and arranging appointments according to priority.

The circular specified that the heads of the surgical units competently decided under the supervision of the department heads that the preparatory phase will be completed within two weeks of the date of the circular. The process for restarting the surgical procedures included commitment to conducting coronavirus smears for patients, within 24 to 72 hours before the operation, while ensuring they test negative.
