A complaint made by a citizen on the social media platform, Twitter, has led to the ministry of health beginning investigation against a female expatriate doctor, who was shown to be sleeping on duty at the Al-Rehab clinic.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad, said that the ministry is following up on the Twitter complaint, and that the doctor has been asked to explain herself.
The incident is said to have happened around 9am when the citizen entered the doctor’s room and found her to be sleeping at her desk. When the clinic administration was informed about the sleeping doctor, they woke her up and questioned her. The doctor said that she was suffering from fever, which raised the additional question of why she was attending the clinic if she was feeling sick.
The complaint has been referred to the Legal Affairs Department of Farwaniya Health Zone for investigations, and to determine whether or not the doctor was suffering from fever. They revealed that, if the doctor’s excuse is proven to be false, legal action will be taken accordingly.
