Minister of Health Sheikh Bassel Al-Sabah during the graduation ceremony.

Minister of Health Sheikh Bassel AlSabah on Tuesday honored 120 physicians and surgeons who completed postgraduate academic sources under the Kuwaiti medical board.

The board, organized by Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations (KIMS), includes 25 training courses in various specializations and six fellowship programs. At the graduation ceremony, the minister handed out the graduation certificates to the doctors and congratulated them on the occasion.

Sheikh Bassel wished the graduates success in their professional life, voicing hope that they would contribute to the humanitarian action. He commended the achievements made by KIMS in modernizing the medical education system in the country and winning the accreditation of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for its training programs.

“The KIMS policies and training programs aim to ensure postgraduate education quality and provide guidance to newly established programs according to the world’s latest standards of postgraduate training,” he pointed out.

The minister called on the graduates, males and females, to continue delivering their humanitarian mission and upgrading the healthcare system in the country. On his part, KIMS SecretaryGeneral Dr. Ibrahim Hadi thanked Sheikh Bassel for his firm support to the Institute in its efforts to reach the highest international levels.

“In its institutional work since its inception, the Institute has been keen on keeping abreast with the latest developments in postgraduate education worldwide through an integrated system; this process led to KIMS accreditation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in June 2017,” Dr. Hadi noted.

“The Institute is reaching out to Canadian colleges and the UK General Medical Council (GMC) and to secure more fellowships for the Kuwaiti doctors with a view to modernising the medical careers in Kuwait,” he revealed.
