The former European Union High Representative Federica Mogherini expressed her sadness by the loss of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait. In her Twitter message tonight she said he was “a man of wisdom and peace, mediation and dialogue, in a time and a region where these qualities were, and still are, so much needed. “He has been a constant source of inspiration and will always be,” added Mogherini.
Mogherini was the EU High Representative from 2014-2019 and visited Kuwait thrice. She posted a photo on her twitter page with the late Amir during a meeting in Kuwait. A former Italian foreign minister, she is now the rector of College of Europe based in the Belgian city of Bruges. On his part, Belgian foreign and defence minister Philippe Goffin in his message on twitter expressed his “deep sadness over the passing away of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. “My sincere condolences to his family and the people of Kuwait who have lost a leader known for promoting dialogue and peace in the region,” he added.
