The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hamad Al-Adwani, affirmed that the ministry is continuing its policy with a plan for Kuwaitization and empowerment of local colleagues in the educational and administrative bodies, in line with the government’s direction to implement the policy in accordance with the Kuwaiti constitution, a local daily reported.

Al-Adwani stated that the educational plan towards the Kuwaitization policy included two main steps, the first of which is the urgent Kuwaitization of the supervisory positions of department heads, by determining the specializations that will be Kuwaitized based on the numbers of Kuwaiti candidates in the waiting lists, and an estimate of the numbers to which the conditions apply for candidacy this year, in line with the real needs of the ministry for local competencies.

The official pointed out that the second step is to terminate the services of non-Kuwaiti teachers in specializations in which appropriate numbers of the local candidates are available according to the needs of each region and educational landscape separately in order to enable Kuwaiti teachers and children of Kuwaiti women to access these jobs, which he said contributes to greater job opportunities for citizens.

He added that the number of non-Kuwaitis is less than 25% of the total in the educational field that has been fully Kuwaitized, while the specializations in which the number of non-Kuwaitis exceeds more than 25% will be Kuwaitized over more than one year. Al-Adwani said that it varies between each specialization and another according to the percentage of the Kuwaitis in it and the percentage of the non-Kuwaiti.

Furthermore, he said that as a first step, the services of several non-Kuwaiti teachers will be terminated in public and private education, as well as special education schools after the final exams this year. He added that this will be in specializations in which large numbers of citizen candidates are available, while stating that he appreciated the efforts and dedication of all non-Kuwaiti workers in the ministry’s sectors. Al-Adwani received on Monday the auditors to complete the open door policy with citizens to listen to their problems.
