Ministry of Education (MoE) has invited all students aged 16 years and above to register on the Ministry of Health website to receive their COVID-19 vaccine when given the appointment.

Assistant Undersecretary for Special and Quality Education, Dr. Abdul-Mohsen Al-Huwaila, said that all employees of private schools and students over the age of 16 are invited to register to receive the vaccinations.

Al-Huwaila explained that the health authorities in the country had recommended the initiative to register for vaccination in order to protect all people and contribute to accelerating access to community immunity, as it is the only way out of the current coronavirus crisis and help return to normal life.

However, according to a statement from the World Health Organization (WHO) issued early this year, the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has only been tested in children above 16 years of age. At that time, the WHO statement did not recommend vaccination of children below 16 years of age, even if they belong to a high-risk group- Ed.
