The Ministry of Education (MOE) has denied residency renewal of about 200 Egyptian teachers and administrators whose residency permits expired while they were stranded outside Kuwait, an Arabic daily reported.

Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo sent around 200 letters to the Ministry regarding teachers with expired residency requesting for renewal.  The daily reported that Sources said the teachers sent letters to the Kuwaiti Embassy which, in turn, forwarded the letters to the ministry for action.

According to the prevailing procedures, the ministry does not make a decision on the renewal of residency of expatriate staff whose residency while they are outside the country. The daily quoted the source stressing that the matter is in the hands of the Interior Ministry.
