The Assistant Undersecretary for Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Youssef Al-Najjar, said the Ministry continues its preparations for a comprehensive return of students to schools in the new academic year, which begins next September, pointing out that the ministry has asked the Ministry of Finance to allocate 2.5 billion dinars budget for fiscal 2022/2023.

Al-Najjar said, in an exclusive interview with a local Arabic daily that 90% of this budget goes to the first chapter, which is devoted to salaries, wages and insurance, i.e. about 2.1 billion dinars, and the rest to be spent on construction projects, maintenance and school equipment such as books, furniture, cleaning and guard contracts, handling, etc.

He pointed out that maintenance contracts annually cost about 10 million dinars, while the cost of textbooks reaches 8 million annually.

He disclosed 16 new schools are expected to open next academic year, pointing out that all sectors of the ministry are currently working on preparing for the next year, each according to its specializatio
