The Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Hamad Al-Adwani, has referred the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Development and Activities, Raja’a Bouarki, to retirement 4 months before the end of her tenure which is next October, in addition to a number of other department directors some of whom who have reach the age of 55 after 6 months.
This happens at a time when the Ministry of Education has compiled a list of 180 supervisors for retirement during the new fiscal year, reports Al-Rai daily.
An educational source told the daily, “the retirement statement, which was addressed to the administrative sector by the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS), includes some former directors in the Ministry’s general office and some educational positions (school principal – assistant principal), in addition to a number of occupants of administrative positions in educational regions” and its affiliated departments.
The source explained that the new retirement insurance law gives government agencies the opportunity to pump new blood in their functional sectors, as it gave the green light to ministers by referring everyone who deserves a pension to retirement, according to conditions, the most important of which is that he/she completes 55 years of age and this has nothing to do with the time spent in the supervisory position.
The source stated that “the compulsory retirement law, applied by the Civil Service Commission, is a government measure that is not intended to reduce supervisory positions, as much as it aims to inject new blood and give young people the opportunity for promotion.
