The Ministry of Finance has promised to study the possibility of extending contracts for chalets (tourist parks), after it received grievances reports from the investors of 10 public parks seeking to reconsider the recommendation of the State Property Committee to withdraw their licenses and renew their contracts.

The sources told Al-Rai daily that the officials informed the investors that their grievances will be discussed and addressed whether by accepting their exclusion from the general trend in this regard, or rejecting them, or by any other procedure, explaining that the recommendation of “state property” not to renew contracts for “public chalets” is consistent with the government performance follow-up authority that judges non-renewal or extension of government contracts that expire automatically after their expiry date and then the facility is offered through public auction.

The chalet investors pointed out that they base their grievance against the withdrawal of their projects on a set of considerations that include that the continuation of their management of their projects despite the expiry of their contracts years ago makes them legally and practically renewable, noting that contracting with the Public Utilities Company to manage “public parks” loses these competitive projects in providing their usual services.

They indicated that the absence of a plan for the development of domestic tourism led to the failure to achieve the desired return, and that withdrawing projects leads to huge losses, pointing out that despite the end of the parks contracts period, it extended year after year, and during that they continued to develop them, which increased the cost of investment on them, considering the continuity of investors in the management of parks with the knowledge and consent of the Ministry of Finance means that the contracts have been legally renewed.

They pointed out that the public chalet projects are built on lands that were purchased with huge sums of money and in areas that fit the “financial” conditions and their status is legal, such as factories, agricultural holdings, and rest houses overlooking the sea.
