The latest official figures show the list of subsidized and discounted food supplies that Kuwait provides to its citizens has risen to 154 commodities at the present time, compared to 137 commodities that were included on the lists of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry during last July.
The list shows the number of subsidized food items increased to about 94 compared to 75, an increase of 25%, including 19 additional commodities, so that subsidized commodities accounted for 61% of food supplies, reports Al-Anba daily.
This comes as the number of food supplies with reduced prices reached about 60, according to the latest list, compared to 62, so that the discounted goods account for about 39% of food supplies.
The lists show that the Ministry of Commerce is keen to provide most of the rationed and subsidized goods to Kuwaiti families on ration cards.
