The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the relevant government agencies are studying how to provide financial support to workers who own micro-enterprises, explaining that the owners of these licenses can obtain that support, by registering with the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS).

An official source told Al-Jarida daily that the Ministry of Commerce discussed with the Public Authority for Manpower obstacles that prevented the owners of these licenses from being granted financial support, especially since they are considered companies and have licenses and known places, by registering them according to Chapter Five as business owners, and it is necessary to equate them with the rest, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The source stated that it is necessary to amend the ministerial decision issued years ago, related to those licenses that carry out activities, whether at home or through a known e-mail, or specifying an office address, so that their owners can enjoy the benefits granted by financial support or registering workers on the license.

The source stated that granting micro-employment support relieves the state and its budget by reducing the salary item and creates new job opportunities. It also helps in assisting the development of commercial activity and the creation of new professions in the private sector.

The failure to determine whether the license holder has commenced work or not is the essential point that officials are still searching for a mechanism to monitor and verify, indicating that it must be ensured that funds and support are granted to real projects and not only to license extractors or sub-lessors, say sources.

In 2017, the Ministry of Commerce had issued a decision allowing licensing of micro-entrepreneurs, simplifying work procedures for establishing companies and issuing the necessary licenses to conduct their work without the need for a commercial store, provided that the founder has an e-mail, a regular mailbox, or a chosen domicile only to be the address that The commercial license is extracted from it.
