The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Abdullah Al-Salman, briefed the Ministerial Economic Committee – of which he is considered a member – on the ‘objective’ reasons to reduce the fee to be paid by non-graduate expatriates who are 60 years and above to renew their residence permits. The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) wants this category of people to pay 2,000 dinars to renew their work permits.
In a statement to Al-Anba the sources said the committee meets today to look into the views and suggestions from concerned authorities and submit the report to the Council of Ministers. The daily has learned the final decision will be taken by the Cabinet directly, or the recommendation of the Ministerial Economic Committee will be referred to the PAM board of directors to issue a decision amending the decision in force since last January.
