The Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi has withdrawn the decision to approve the secondment of a media person to ICESCO (Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
The sources told a local Arabic daily that the withdrawal of the decision came after the Ministry of Information addressed the Fatwa and Legislation Department, stating that the procedures for candidacy were invalid and cited a court verdict in this regard.
The sources stated that the nomination decision was issued last July, that is, before Minister Al-Mutairi assumed the portfolio of the Ministry of Information.
The sources pointed out Al-Mutairi ordered the legal affairs sector to open an investigation on the nomination and to know who is responsible for the nomination.
