The cases of drug addiction in addiction treatment centers during 4 years reached 8,137 cases, between 2017 and 2020.
Minister of Health, Dr. Khaled Al-Saeed said dispensing narcotic drugs in the Ministry of Health facilities and the private sector health centers is subject to the provisions of Law No. 74 of 1983 on the issue of combating drugs and regulating their use and trafficking.
In response to a question by MP Mubarak Al-Ajmi the minister said, the responsible authority in the ministry is coordinating with other relevant parties to raise the level of work and tighten control over the circulation of narcotic substances in the government sector hospitals and healthcare centers, reports Al-Qabas daily.
Al-Saeed gave the statistics which show in 2017 there were 1868, in 2018 2271, in 2019 it was to 2064, and in 2020 the number of cases was 1934.
