Kuwait is using the most recent technology in healthcare, especially in newly-opened hospitals, said Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah on Monday. The remarks were made after the inauguration of the Arab Health 2019 exhibition in Dubai, the largest healthcare exhibition in the Gulf region.

Kuwait is working on developing the use of technology in the health field, said Sheikh Basel, noting that the country started using the electronic patient file to speed up the healthcare services. The electronic file will provide full medical history of the patient and can be shared by different hospitals and health centers for easier diagnosis, he explained. Kuwait is also planning on connecting the online systems of both public and private hospitals so that they can share the patients’ files for better treatment, the minister added.

Meanwhile, he said that the exhibition, held until January 31, is a great opportunity to learn of all that’s new in the medical field, especially the use of artificial intelligence. According to the exhibition’s organizing committee, this year’s event saw a rise of two percent in the number of visitors compared to last year. The total number is expected to reach about 84,000 visitors from all around the world with over 1000 foreign medical companies.
