Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah resigned from his position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Rai daily reported.

Ambassador Khaled Al-Jarallah, a career diplomat, had been long associated with foreign ministry and in implementing Kuwait’s foreign policies. He was often seen as the country’s main diplomatic trouble-shooter, often successfully negotiating seemingly intractable challenges.

In a statement to the daily, Al-Jarallah confirmed that he has submitted his resignation. Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Nasser issued a decree accepting Jarallah’s resignation and assigning Ambassador Jamal Al-Ghanem as a temporary replacement to the position.

No reasons were given for the resignation. Al-Jarallah was appointed to the rank of minister in 2006, while serving as Foreign Under-Secretary.
