Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Jassim Al-Ustad, has issued a decision to establish a committee tasked with devising solutions to address the growing demand for electric power. This committee will be led by Engineer Haitham Al-Ali, Assistant Undersecretary for the Power Stations Sector.

This comes in conjunction with the recent publication of a report by Al-Rai daily, which highlighted concerns and potential ramifications stemming from delays in the supply chain of essential components for power generation stations and high-voltage cables.

The establishment of this committee aims to strategize and implement measures to meet the escalating demand for electrical energy in the upcoming years. This is particularly pertinent given the surge in housing and developmental projects.

The ministry officials and committee members bear the responsibility of assessing the potential risks arising from insufficient production capacity, as well as removing any impediments that might hinder the execution of current and future projects.

The sources revealed that the committee shoulders a significant responsibility in devising effective solutions to address the mounting need for electrical energy. This responsibility is underscored by the considerable increase in annual consumption, ranging from 3 to 6 percent this summer as compared to the previous year.

Consequently, the committee is urged to formulate practical and feasible strategies that pave the way for the implementation of electricity and water production projects. These projects are set to be introduced through the Partnership Projects Authority, an entity facilitating collaboration between the public and private sectors.
