The Ministry of Electricity and Water is intensifying efforts to establish an electronic connection with the Ministry of Interior by early September. This strategic measure aims to facilitate the collection of outstanding electricity and water debts owed by expatriates before departing the country. While the “electricity” systems are prepared for implementation, some specific agreements are being finalized to complete the linking mechanism within a few days, reported Al-Jarida Daily.
The upcoming phase will extend beyond Kuwait International Airport, encompassing all national ports, to address this longstanding issue. Many expatriates have accrued overdue debts due to transitioning from old properties to new ones without settling obligations linked to their previous residences.
The initiative not only addresses financial accumulation but also introduces an avenue for collection, potentially involving millions in expatriate debts. Pending approvals from the Council of Ministers and relevant authorities, these efforts might contribute to resolving this challenge and streamline debt management for services rendered across various ministries.
