The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) announced in a press release that emergency teams were able to restore electricity to all areas that were cut off this evening, Wednesday, due to a fire in the main Salmiya station.
The ministry stated in a statement that a fire broke out earlier in the main substation (Salmiya W), which led to the station being completely nonfunctional, and power was cut off in a number of areas.
Thanks to the concerted efforts of the concerned sectors, the main substation (Salmiya W) was restored to fully functional, and the electricity was fully restored to all areas. It stated that the accident did not result in any human damage and that the fire was limited to some material losses, noting that work is underway to uncover the causes that led to the fire.
The ministry said in a previous statement that the specialized teams began working as soon as possible to restore the electricity.
