Under the leadership of Engineer Faisal Al-Sumait, the Assistant Undersecretary for Transportation Networks, the the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, has made significant advancements.

Al-Sumait’s during the inauguration of the Ministry’s first summer electricity exhibition, themed “Oh, Our Sweet Heritage,” put emphasis on expanding the country’s electrical capacity by an additional 20 megawatts, reports Al-Jarida daily.

He explained several key centers will be established in diverse locations. The initial site will be situated in the Sulaibiya Farms Area followed by a second center to the north of the southern city of Sa’ad Al-Abdullah, and a third in the southern part of the residential city of Al-Mutla’a. The operation of the final two principal transmission stations in Abdullah Al-Mubarak South is anticipated to conclude by the yearend.

The matter of tariff implementation for these centers is currently under evaluation by the Ministry in collaboration with pertinent governmental bodies. Al-Sumait emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring efficient energy utilization and system reliability, elucidating that the Ministry has crossed the phase of critical or “peak” loads.

As the summer concludes at the end of August, the Ministry is set to assess the outcomes of the season, including power outages, overload percentages, and restoration speed. This assessment will guide the Ministry in devising load expectations and strategies for the forthcoming 2024 summer.

Al-Sumait highlighted the role of specialized committees, including the Critical Loads Committee, in scrutinizing the state of electrical loads throughout the current summer. He assured that the Ministry is taking proactive measures to evaluate the electrical network, production, and consumption, and to determine if energy purchase from the Gulf network will be necessary in future summers.

Al-Sumait iterated the Ministry’s dedication to supplying energy to new cities, with ongoing operations in residential Al-Mutla’a where the majority of transmission stations are already operational. The Ministry will meticulously evaluate the network’s condition in preparation for the upcoming summer. Moreover, the Ministry is making strides in the city of Sabah Al-Ahmad, with plans to offer stations in two phases.

Anticipating the completion of the final two main substations in South Abdullah Al-Mubarak by year-end, Al-Sumait conveyed the Ministry’s proactive approach to enhancing Kuwait’s energy infrastructure and ensuring a reliable power supply.
