As part of the strategy announced by the Minister of Electricity and Water and Oil Dr. Khalid Al-Fadhil, the Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has activated 23 e-services to facilitate services provided to consumers.
The e-services, which follow global performance indicators, are intended to shorten the period of delivery of services to consumers through the use of digital devices including mobile phones and thereby reduce the paper-work involved in the processes, said the Undersecretary at the Ministry of Electricity and Water Muhammad Boushehri.
He added that the e-services provided by the ministry include the delivery of electricity to a new consumer, switching meters, cutting and restoring water to the vouchers of the model areas, and many other services that were announced through the ministry’s official page.
On a related note, MEW is understood to have floated a tender for the supply of 300,000 smart meters for electricity and water, to modernize the mechanisms of work within the consumer affairs sector and to control the consumption of electricity and water, in all sectors of housing, in addition to other projects.
