The head of the emergency team of the Kuwait Municipality of the Capital Governorate branch, Zaid Al-Enezi, has disclosed that the count of properties occupied by singles or the so-called bachelors in privately designated residential areas and subjected to electricity disconnection has reached 167.

In a communiqué addressed to the head of the committee overseeing the issue of bachelor housing in private residential zones, Al-Enezi said that over a span of 10 weeks, from June 11, 2023, to July 25, 2023, the teams conducted assessments on 248 properties and issued warnings for 261 properties, and disconnected the power supply to 167 of these properties.

Al-Enezi urged the directors of the audit and engineering monitoring departments across all governorate municipalities to furnish the committee with the tally of research and inquiry appeals initiated by the departments.

He also sought data regarding the count of violation records issued pursuant to Decree Law No. 125 of 1992, which pertains to the prohibition of accommodating ‘bachelors’ in the private and model housing.

Additionally, he requested figures related to the enforcement of Ministerial Resolution No. 206 of 2009 concerning building regulations, including the number of properties subject to precautionary measures, eviction statistics, and instances of voluntary rectification of illegal construction violations and other offenses.
