The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has amassed revenues estimated at KD44 million, with a collection rate of 8.9 percent, compared to the total amounts estimated to be collected, which are at KD496 million, for the sale of electricity and fresh water in the Sulaibiya area, the supply of electricity to new customers, and other services in all types of housing areas for the duration of six months from April 1 until September.

The latest report of the Ministry of Finance for the month of September showed that the total expenditures of the ministry on all items during the same period amounted to KD916.8 million, with a spending rate of 36 percent, compared to the total amounts approved for the ministry’s budget, which is estimated at KD2.534 billion. The report indicated that the ministry spent KD184.8 million on remuneration for its employees during the same period, with a spending rate of 39 percent, compared to the amounts approved for covering the same item, which amounted to KD471.4 million, to cover salaries, bonuses, and allowances for employees.

The report indicated that the ministry spent during the same period KD702 million on goods and services, with a spending rate of 46.3 percent, compared to the amounts approved for covering the same item, which amount to KD1.515 billion, for spending on the purchase of oil and fuel for operating the electrical power stations and water distillation plants of the ministry.

The ministry spent KD30 million during the same period on purchasing non-current assets, with a spending rate of 5.5 percent, compared to the approved amounts of KD555 million dinars, for spending on the ministry’s electricity and water projects.
