Among the major projects undertaken by the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) are the intra-Kuwait metro line and Kuwait’s section of the mega pan-Gulf railway network. Despite countries such as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia already operating highly efficient metro lines, and being well advanced in their respective sections of the pan-Gulf rail network, Kuwait is still at the preliminary stages in both projects.

According to PART, related documents on the metro and railway line are being evaluated by the global consultant hired for the project studies. Coordination discussions with concerned ministries are also said to be progressing, including with the Ministry of Oil, the Kuwait Municipality and the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources.

On a positive side, PART claimed that 22 road projects worth over KD2.4 billion were being implemented in various parts of the country, including the wafra Road, the Sixth and Seventh Ring Roads and Sabah Al-Ahmad City; and the Sixth Ring Road and Al-Salmi Road.

The road projects are said to be proceeding to schedule agreed between the contractors and the Ministry of Public Works and in coordination with the supervisory authorities.

Meanwhile, old roads and walls in Mubarakiya Market are being decorated with vibrant murals and graffiti with the aim of adding to the beauty and history of this traditional and vital market.
