Meteorologist Mohamed Karam says there are chances for light rain accompanied by thunders at times next Thursday and Friday.
Karam told a local Arabic daily the country is currently witnessing the onset of the Sarayat season which usually begins in mid-April and will continue until the end of next May, indicating the Sarayat season is characterized by rapid and sudden climatic fluctuations, which usually have a great impact.
Karam explained the Sarayat are usually accompanied by active winds that give cause dust to rise and are accompanied by rainy clouds.
He indicated that the country’s weather today and tomorrow, (Tuesday and Wednesday) will be cloudy to partly cloudy with a weak chance of rain, pointing out that the winds will be northwesterly with a speed of 40 kilometers per hour, which will see dust storms in open desert areas.
Regarding the weather conditions for Thursday and Friday, he said, “There is a chance of light rain falling in some areas as a result of depression in the center of the Arabian Peninsula, which will be accompanied by active southeasterly winds reaching a speed of more than 40 kilometers per hour, expected to turn northwesterly Thursday morning.
He mentioned the rains during the Sarayat season are sometimes accompanied by thunder and hail, due to the difference in temperature between the surface of the earth and the upper atmospheric layers, where the temperatures are still low.
