German Chancellor Angela Merkel continued to run the government on Monday through a phone line from her residency, due to self-isolation and as a result of contact with a doctor who was infected with the coronavirus.
A German government spokesman said in a short statement that Merkel is engaging with government tasks, including a cabinet meeting, which will be held with new guidelines, in an attempt to stop the spread of the virus to other members.
Last night, Merkel has quarantined herself at home, after receiving treatment by a doctor who was diagnosed with coronavirus.
She will be regularly examined in the coming days and pursue government tasks from her seclusion.
