The Economic Committee in the Council of Ministers discussed, the day before yesterday the merger of the Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) with the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), as part of government efforts to streamline, restructure and rationalize government spending.
Senior sources told Al-Qabas the merger process is in the final stages. The merger of the two authorities will be by decree, because the Department of Statistics was established by decree.
The sources explained the merger will not affect the organizational structure of the employees in both entities with the exception of the tendency to abolish the positions of the undersecretary and assistant undersecretaries, because after the merger the entity will fall under the umbrella of the Public Authority for Civil Information.
