The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) has added 4 new categories allowed to transfer from family residency visas (Article 22) to a work permit (Article 18), after extensive study by specialists in the employment affairs sector, Al Qabas reported.

PAM clarified that the second-degree relatives of Kuwaitis in health professions who have received approval from the Ministry of Health, and those with educational qualifications to work in schools (faculty members), and students enrolled in Kuwaiti educational institutions who are first degree family members of a deceased family.

In addition, the Deputy Director-General of the Manpower Authority for Employment Affairs, Abdullah Al-Mutouteh, said that the amendment is to benefit some categories to allow them to transfer from the family visas to work permits in the labor market, and are of the opinion there are positive effects with regard to this decision.

The exceptions were made taking into account the conditions the country is going through regarding the threat of the coronavirus pandemic and its effects on the economic conditions in the labor market.

Al-Mutouteh noted that the decision was passed regarding the transfer of family visas to the private sector, by adding more categories to the list excluded from the transfer ban, stressing that the authority is constantly reviewing its decisions within the framework of understanding the labor market conditions, in a manner that maintains the demographic composition of Kuwait.

Categories allowed to transfer

1 – Spouses and children of Kuwaiti women.
2 – Kuwaiti wives.
3- Born in the State of Kuwait.
4- Palestinians with documents.
5- Those who hold a diploma qualification above secondary school or higher from Kuwaiti educational institutions.
6- Second-degree relatives of Kuwaitis
7 – Holders of technical professions specialized in the health field who have obtained the approval of the Ministry of Health.
8 – Those with educational qualifications to work in schools (faculty members).
9 – Family members of first degree relatives of a deceased family, provided they are students in Kuwaiti educational institutions.
