A prominent media personality in the country has been fined KD3,000 by Kuwait’s Court of Cassation, for using a ‘fake’ doctoral degree. The court also nullified the ‘clean chit’ given to the suspect by the International Center for Arbitration in Cairo through a previous verdict.

The man who went about appending the ‘Dr.’ title to his name, allegedly obtained fictitious master’s and a Phd through bogus means. He ‘managed’ to get his certificates evaluated in Kuwait and used it to secure a job as a media consultant to various ministries and earned over KD20,000 in remuneration.

Incidentally, the Ministry of Higher Education, which had referred the media consultant to the prosecution on forgery allegations, found itself in trouble after it was revealed during investigation that the ministry had approved his request to study in the university that awarded him the degrees.
