The Ministry of State for Communications and Information Technology has approved the transfer of the jurisdiction of the Maritime Transport and Audit and Quality Departments from the Ministry of Communications to the Ministry of Interior.

The ministerial decision, a copy of which was obtained by a local Arabic daily, says the Ministry of Communications shall abide by all the financial obligations imposed on these two departments in terms of employee salaries, financial contributions to international organizations, financial obligations established for agreements and contracts and any other financial obligations until March 31, 2023.

The decision included that employees working in the two departments whose affiliation is transferred to the Ministry of Interior shall be delegated as required by the work interest, with a maximum of 6 months from the date of this decision or until the Ministry of Interior approves its need for these employees, whichever is closer in accordance with the established legal procedures.

The decision called for the Ministry of Interior to replace the Ministry of Communications in all rights and obligations of these two departments and the associated fees, returns, revenues or any other financial entitlements related to contracts, agreements and any other financial obligations as of 4/1/2023.

The decision requested the Ministry of the Interior to reorganize the structure of the two aforementioned departments to conform to the nature of their work and to adopt it in accordance with the legal procedures established within 6 months of the issuance of this decision.

The decision stipulated the formation of a joint working group between the two sides in order to coordinate on the completion of procedures for transferring employees, files and other emerging matters, provided that the work period of the team will be 6 months from the date of this decision.
