In an official letter addressed by the Philippine side to the head of the Federation of Domestic Labor Recruitment Offices in the country, the embassy invited the concerned parties to attend a virtual meeting today, at 1:00 pm.
According to the address, of which Al-Jarida obtained a copy, the meeting will also discuss the possibility of lifting the suspension of sending new domestic workers to the country, resuming the process of recruiting them again, as well as creating a new labor attaché office at the embassy, in addition to many other matters related to the mechanisms of recruiting domestic workers from Manila.
This happens at a time when Manila has admitted to sheltering about 516 runaway female workers at its embassy in Kuwait – workers who had escaped from their sponsors due to problems that arose between the two parties.
